Funeral Costs

We provide a full range of services to help you when you need us.

The average cost of a funeral

In the Essex and Suffolk region the average cost of a funeral is £3000 to £3500, but as each funeral is unique and individual, costs can vary. Our aim is to offer a fair and competitive pricing structure, so that clients have the widest choice available to suit their budgets. We will always endeavour to price match.

From a basic funeral to the most elaborate ceremony

We are able to meet any requirements, and we will provide an itemised estimate prior to the funeral, so that all costs are fully explained.

How Funeral Costs Work

There are two separate components which make up the cost of a funeral. Firstly, the Funeral Directors Professional Charges, and secondly, the Disbursements. These are the fees paid on your behalf, such as doctors, cemetery or crematorium, clergy and church fees.

As members of the National Association of Funeral Directors, we are required to offer The Simple Funeral, which includes a suitable coffin and provision of a hearse direct to a local crematorium or cemetery. Please contact us for more information.

Our payment terms require disbursements to be paid in advance of the funeral, with the balance invoiced approximately 7 days after the funeral date. Payment can be made by cheque, credit or debit card. Funerals are VAT exempt.

As a family business, we understand it can sometimes be difficult to afford a funeral, and we are always sympathetic to the needs of our clients.

In certain circumstances, help towards funeral expenses may be claimed from the DWP. We have application forms readily available, and can give you help and guidance in making a claim. For further information click here to visit the DWP website.
